Overview
The Altera’s DK-CYCII-2C20NDK-CYCII-2C20N Cyclone II FPGA Starter Development Kit, which includes a full-featured field-programmable gate array (FPGA) development board, hardware and software development tools, documentation, and accessories needed to begin FPGA development. The development board includes an Altera Cyclone II 2C20 FPGA and comes preconfigured with a hardware reference design stored in flash memory. Hardware designers can use the development board as a platform to prototype complex embedded systems.
The Development Kit provides the user with an integrated control environment that includes a software controller in C++, a USB command controller, a multi-port SRAM/SDRAM/flash memory controller, and demonstration circuitry specified in Verilog code. These features enable users to implement and test designs without the need to implement complex application programming interfaces (APIs), host control software, or SRAM/SDRAM/flash memory controllers.
The low-cost Cyclone II FPGA Starter Development Kit is ideal for evaluating Altera's high-performance, low-power, 90-nm technology. By using this RoHS-compliant starter development kit, you will see 60 percent (on average) higher performance and 50 percent (on average) lower power than competing 90-nm, low-cost FPGAs.
The Cyclone II family offers devices with the Fast-On feature, which offers a faster power-on-reset (POR) time. Cyclone II devices can also expand the peripheral set, memory, I/O, or performance of embedded processors. Single or multiple Nios II embedded processors can be designed into a Cyclone II device to provide additional co-processing power or even replace existing embedded processors in your system. Using Cyclone II and Nios II together allow for low-cost, high-performance embedded processing solutions, which allow you to extend your product's life cycle and improve time to market over standard product solutions.
Key Applications: Broadcast and Consumer (Plasma Displays, HDTV, Set-Top Boxes, Cameras, Audio/Visual Conference Equipment, HDTV Camcorders), Wireline and Wireless communications (Wireless Basestations, Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) Systems, Wireless LAN Access Point), Automotive(Navigation Systems, Satellite Radio Receiver, Hybrid Television Receiver, Telematics, Entertainment), Military, Industrial, and Medical (Medical Imaging (e.g., MRI, X-ray), Video Displays, Video Surveillance, Radars, Software Defined Radio, Network Test Equipment)
