A little over a week ago a group of established engineers, makers, hackers, and students met up for our anticipated EAGLE printed circuit board design Boot Camp held here at our CadSoft Computer US offices in Pembroke Pines, FL. Valuable design information and excitement were supplied. And, I'm not referring to the fire alarm that went off, or the two power outages that occurred that day.
Led by Ed Robledo C.C. US GM, and Jorge Garcia TSS, senior EE and CE students were raring and excited at the chance to receive instruction on EAGLE PCB design since it's not part of their school's curriculum. Saying the PCB design skill would reflect well when pursuing desired positions. Another attendee present came ready to learn, to then incorporate it at his local hackerspace.
We'd all been prepping here to bring this camp idea to fruition. Robledo whose travels place him in workplaces and schools to demo EAGLE, wanted to dedicate a full day of designing to users interested in getting a revved up boost in the learning curve. With version 6 loaded on their laptops the inexperienced and experienced alike were guided through a power supply design tutorial. From step one, they were guided through the control panel to schematic, adding components, and then adding connections, all the while highlighting EAGLE's different features. This was simply one of the targets covered that day.
Thanks to Ninette Fernandez, account manager for Newark Electronics who presented the Element 14 engineering ecosystem to attendees. Focusing in on some of the many resources that facilitate the design production process.
EAGLE Boot Camp electricity is still present in the building fueled by the positive feedback we continue to receive. “Although I've been using your software for many years, I did expect I would learn one or two things. As it turns out, I got much more than I bargained for... demonstrating some important ULP's, offering navigational tricks, and other considerations was a boon for me.”

Attendees had a roundtable conversation at the finale, expressing interest in being part of the next EAGLE Boot Camp to be held. We're excited planning for a future one, continuing to engage with the design community.
