Changes Coming to EAGLE Central Forums

Hello everyone,

 

We thank everyone who is using the web-based support forums at

www.eaglecentral.ca.  We've been running this service free-of-charge to

the EAGLE community since 2008.  It's hard to imagine it's been that

long.

 

We're still running off the original server and it's time for it to be

retired so we'll be upgrading the underlying infrastructure.  You may see

some downtime in the next week or so as we move things around.  Please be

patient--we're not IT experts and we have many other things to do.  But

we feel that these web-based forums do provide a unique value to those

who use them and we'd like to continue offering them.

 

Once we're done the EAGLE Central forums should be faster and poised to

serve the EAGLE community for many years to come.

An update:  You may have noticed the site being down for a bit.  But we're

back up on our new server and my initial tests seem to be passing with

flying colours.  Let me know if you see something funky in our forums.

Thanks for moving this forum to a new server, it does seem a lot faster now

and I much prefer this version on the forum to the mirror on Element 14!

However, this morning I unfortunately keep getting the "Resource Limit Is

Reached" page with the message "The website is temporarily unable to

service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again

later."

Is Reached" page with the message "The website is temporarily unable to

service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again

later."

Thanks Rachael,

I had seen that issue last night too.  I believe I have figured out what

was going on and have tweaked the server settings so we shouldn't see it

again (hopefully).

Just an update for everyone.  After a week on the new server and making a

couple of tweaks the forums are better than ever.  The server has proven to

be very speedy and reliable thus far and I see no reason to think it will

be any different going forward.

On EagleCental/forums a user has begun inserting attached images into

the message body.

When that posting gets to the newsgroup the raw data of that image is

filling the page.

Compare in the newsgroup

That never happened previously so maybe that wasn't enabled previously

It certainly needs removing.
