Placing connection to a lead out of a grid point.

Hello, I'm new at PCB designing experience and for the beginning I've

chosen EAGLE. My problem is that I can not connect a metric component to

a imperial one because the leads of one or other come located out of

grid points (depending on grid unit setting). So, my question is the

following How can a could make understand EAGLE that a component's lead

has priority over grid point when I try to make a connection. Even if I

use both components and grids of the same standard I will need to place

connection out of grid points anyway, for example when using an IC in a

package with circular displacement of the leads, for example, TO-5,

TO-18 or others...   Thanks in advance

    hello,

    Eagle already know that.

First alway use the 'route' tool and not  the 'wire' tool.

Then it's quite simple:   on your  first click, Eagle will select the nearest airwire from your mouse cursor, and it will start to route exactly from the center of your pad, event if it's not on the grid...

Now and before you click a second time, change the 'wire bend style' (with right click or in the tool bar). Select the bend style that let you go out from the pad in the correct way, and then you can click to select a transition point (that point will be on the grid).

Continue to trace your route until you reach the destination pad. For this destination pad the same applies (in reverse) :

you select the 'wire bend style' that will let you do a 'good arrival', then you click on the pad, and Eagle will end-up exactly in the center of the pad.

Just one detail : have a look in Option>Set>Misc. and check the 'snap length' parameter : if it is too large, Eagle will snap to the center of the pad too soon (when you don't want to)  near the pad. If  it is too small, Eagle will not easily snap to the pad (my actual value is 0,5 mm).
