I am working through the Eagle "creating a new part" tutorial here:

I am using Eagle 5.10.0 on Windows XP. I have made the footprint as
described in the tutorial, but the pin numbers (names) do not appear, as
they do in the Sparkfun illustration here:
The names are there, just not visible. I do see the names appear at the
bottom of the window if I right click on a SMD pad, and they are shown in
the properties info window. I have turned every layer on in the "Display"
tool, and I see the copper and soldermask openings, just not the names. Any
ideas what is wrong?
