PCB Fab Drawing

Former Member

Hi, I am a board design novice, hobbyist really...the PCB manufacturer I am

using has requested a fabrication drawing for my board.  Can anyone tell me

what this consists of and how to create it?

Is this a standardized thing that a ULP exists for?

Sorry if my question doesn't make sense.

Thanks

Doug

This is also known as a drill & trim.

They usually want the board shape and outer dimensions and a drill chart.

Eagle has a ULP for doing the drill chart listing all the drills and marking

    their location.

It puts this on layer 144. (also see help Drill)

There also needs to be notes indicating board material (ie; FR4), thicknes,

number of layers, copper weight, soldermask color, number of silkscreen

layers, whether electrical test is required and any other parameter that you

    consider important,

Thanks for the information.  Should this drawing be in any particular file

    format?

It can be done in Eagle or AutoCad but I usually include a PDF of the

drawing because everybody can view them.
