Of course it is necessary to use a VECTOR ('stroked') font for EXACT
compatibility between platforms and support of Gerber. The 'Simplex'
font I mean IS a vector font, uses the same stroke definitions as
EAGLE's current vector font (they come from the same source and
designer), is compatible with absolutely everything (including Gerber),
but just LOOKS a bit better (and, because the number of strokes is
larger than that of the current font, would increase the resulting
Gerber file size).
The CadSoft guys wouldn't even have to change their drawing algorithms,
but 'just' add accented characters to it, include it in EAGLE and make
it selectable for the user.
