EAGLE parts on the Farnell site

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

Hi,

I notice that a lot of the components on the Farnell website now have EAGLE library parts associated with them.

There are many that do not however.

I am always making EAGLE parts for components ordered from Farnell...is there a way to upload these so others may benefit too?

Thanks

Dave

    Hi Dave,

    Yes, it's here: http://www.cadsoftusa.com/downloads/upload/?language=en

Uploading to this directory adds to the user libraries available here: http://www.cadsoftusa.com/downloads/libraries/?language=en

    Regards,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

I was aware of the Cadsoft upload area as I have uploaded parts in the past.

How do these uploads get flagged/attached to the relevant part on the

    farnell online catalogue though?

    Dave

    Aaah, sorry, I misunderstood.

I don't know of any way to do that, I presume they're generated by manufacturers rather than users.

They tend to use scripts to generate library parts rather than give the library parts directly, which takes more effort to do but ensures future compatibility.

Is there anyone from Farnell reading this that is able to comment?

    Hi Mike,

I find it hard to believe that manufacturers would go to the trouble of

generating EAGLE parts for their components considering all the variety

    of CAD software out there.

Yet as you search for semis on the Onecall site there are what seem to

be clickable icons marked (CAD CadSoft_EAGLE (2.35KB) EN

    For example:-

    http://onecall.farnell.com/texas-instruments/tle2426cd/virtual-ground-reference-smd-2426/dp/8454809

I thought Farnell and Cadsoft were in a symbiotic relationship..... so

who is adding these icons to the Onecall website?

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

This is an initiative by Farnell, they are generating these library

components for EAGLE. If my brain is working correctly I believe they

mentioned that they have something like 29000 components in their

    catalog associated with EAGLE libraries.

In the coming year they expect to add more.

One call is probably just leaching off the Farnell website.

This is as much as I know.

The devices are created by Ultra Librarian,  they have a lot of devices already created.  Have you looked there?

These Eagle files - they're scripts but do you need to be using Ultra Librarian to actually use them? They don't translate as scripts in Eagle themsleves and throw up errors if you try to run them. If they are Ultra Librarian files, would it be less confusing to label them as such?

These script files can easily be imported into a new or existing

library. Just open/generate a library and go Data /execute script

and point the way to "nameofthescript.scr".

Tried that but the library file refuses to do anything - I get an error report.

    Loading C:/Program Files/EAGLE-6.2.0/lbr/ADI-AD797ARZ.lbr ...

    Error:

line 1, column 1: Start tag expected.

    I think this one's a dud myself.
