Help with settings for autorouter!!

Hi I am wondering if anyone can help me with settings for eagle auto router. I have a basic pcb for which i have the .sch & .brd files for. I have everything done and ready to start autorouter (AR) as i have no experience in manual routing.

My Problem is when I start AR it goes to around 30% and then stops leaving lots of air wires. I must have settings wrong somewhere along the line. Its a basic board its for a 240pin chip holder spacing being .5mm between holes.

The first 192pins are routing to 8x24 surface mount pads that are on the bottom layer, the other 48pins are routed to a 64 pin header. The track size I want is .2mm or 8mil.I also am only using top and bottom layers. This is my first attempt at this and I know something is wrong.

I need some guidance as to what settings to change in eagle to achieve my aim. Also the full size of the board is 160mm sq.

I would really appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks for your time.

    Setting the routing grid smaller will help. It will take longer also.

    Take a good look at your costs for each layer, vias etc.
