Difference between RCL.lbr and Resistor.lbr?

After switching back and forth between the RCL and Resistor libraries I cant seem to see a diference. Is there any differences between the two different libraries? The reason I ask is that one of our board assembly house called and said the 0402 capacitor pads were wrong and they were getting lots of tombstoning of the parts. My co-worker wants to edit the library to just correct the pads instead of switching everthing over to the C0402K package. If we edit the library and then push it out to all the engineers do we need to edit both RCL and Resistor or just one and ignore the other? Crazy I know but he is the senior and it would be easier then going through every single part on that board and changing all of them.

I would say edit the .ldr file that you are pulling the  pieces from.  If you have them pulling from multiple libraries then you have to change both.

That would be easy but I think we might have used them interchangeably. Some guys use Resistor other RCL. I was just wondering if there was any difference so that we could standardize on one library or the other.

If I remember correctly there really is no difference in the 2 libraries.

If this is from V6.x, it's easy to tell for sure. Do a file diff of the

XML files for the two different libraries. It may still take some visual

inspection, due to possible formatting differences in the text, but may

    be worth a try.

    Regards,

    Bill

Both libraries, rcl- and resistor.lbr exist since version 5 already.

There must be a difference because there is quite a difference in the

file size. AFAIK a lot of packages have been thrown out.

Anyway I think a stupid name has been chosen for the resitor library.

You want some inductors or capacitors?? Look at the resistor.lbr image
