polar grid - too strange suggestion?

Hello friends of Eagle,

lately I realized that I have more and more circular boards. Very often

one runs into trouble placing components on circular positions. I know,

scripting is ONE solution here.

But I wonder if there could ever be a circular grid option in eagle.

Would be helpful for a number of applications... IMHO.

For instance with specifying a constant offset for radii and number of

angular sections on the first radius. On increasing radii the angular

sections could be halved as soon as the arc length is >= double of the

initial arc length. This would give a angular grid defined by two values

which keeps nearly constant density...

See attached image for illustration. Sorry, rough quality.

Any thoughts? Worth a feature request?

Regards, Stefan

PS: is there an ULP anywhere helping with angular placement? Haven't

found anything...

EAGLE does NOT have any polar grid, but positions CAN be entered with

polar coordinates in the command line. With the syntax

       (pR A)

you can access the point with the radius R and the angle A. E.g.,

       wire (p1 90) (p2 180);

draws a line from (0,1) to (-2,0) in cartesian coordinates.

See also the help text for coordinate entry.

Great. Thanks. Somehow overlooked that. Regards, Stefan
