Eagle 6.4 and shortcut keys

Former Member
Former Member over 12 years ago

Hi,

I'm having a problem with setting up all the shortcuts that i need to use. In previous versions that was not a problem but since 6.4... come on! why do the keys that are once changed always return to their original configuration? Is there a system to set this up? I tried using eagle editing the eaglerc.usr file but nothing works. I've seen somewhere that there is a way to run eagle 6.4 with old config file. Is that the only way? I don't have the old config file since I upgraded to 6.4. PLEASE someone help.

Fact is that new assignments are 1. not saved and 2. not all of them are

    shown.

In my eaglerc I see that F10 is set as "redo". If I'm at the board

opening the options/keys dialog I don't see F10 at all.

If I want to set F10 key to "redo" I get a message that the key is

already assigned as "redo", so why it is not shown?

If I assign it new it shows up in the list until the list is closed.

After reopening the dialog the key does not show but still works.

    Hi Przemyslaw,

I think the best way to setup your assignments now is to use the

eagle.scr file. If you make the assignments there and save the eagle.scr

file then your shortcut keys should be preserved. In 6.4.0 it comes with

some defaults you can easily modify.

You'll find the eagle.scr file in the scripts tree of the control panel.

But don't edit the eagle.scr file in the install directory--it will be

removed or overwritten when you update to the next version.  See our app

note EAN-02 at http://www.eaglecentral.ca/eagle/application-notes for the

same issue discussed in a larger context for libraries, ULP's, scripts,

    etc...

    Cheers,

    James.

    Thank's I'll try that.

Is this a bug that is in this version or am I the only one with this problem.

I edited the eagle.scr file added some key assignments on the schematic... I'll try them later out and let You know.

If this is a bug please fix it. The default keys cant overwrite the changed ones in the program. What's the use of setting them up in the first place.

    Best regards
