Hi All,
I was doing some comparisons between CAD SW for a larger project I was starting. I've used eagle for years, and I kept coming across people complaining about how long it takes to make footprints. I never ran into this - I wondered what method people use for making them?
I always just use the 'grid' command to change the grid, and just copy/move elements as needed. You can go direct from 'suggested footprints' to a PCB footprint most times. Sometimes you need to do a little math to get the offset from some specific element, but it's still far from a show-stopper. Here's a video to show you what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCfhk1nscQQ&t=1m40s&hd=1
It's not the most efficient method ever, but it's pretty damn fast. That footprint I made in the video was just tested in hardware, and it was a perfect fit...
