problem with connector, 2 pins/2 pads

Hello,

I tried to create a new "cage clamp connector" (symbol/package etc) that has

2 pads (A1 and B1) but only 1 pin - well, I learned from other discussions

that this is not going to work, so I added a second pin. I have now the pins

(-1) and (B-1).

I've been looking for a similar already existing device and used the Wago

233-102 as template.

When I (in schematics editor) connect a net to the pin (-1) and run "erc",

it always complains that Pin B-1 is not connected - this does not happen

with the Wago clamp, there, one pin is connected and everything is fine.

I guess I'm missing something and would appreciate any help,

(I'm running eagle 4.16r2)

thanks

Matthias

This is not all that complicated, so there is probably something simple

    that's wrong.

When I get this kind of 2-pin/2-pad situation, I simply put two separate

pins in separate locations on the schematic symbol.  Then I connect both

those pins to the same net in the schematic.

It is possible to place two pins in the symbol on top of each other.  This

"fakes" a single pin, but makes rather a mess, and I don't think it's a very

good idea since it hides information you might need.

You might also check whether your pins and your schematic nets are on-grid.

Try moving the part and see if all the nets you think are connected stretch

    to move with it.

    Greetings M.Dehof,

on Fri, 8 Feb 2008 you wrote saying :

Check what sort of pin it is. Go to the library editor and click "info"

on the pin, and check the "direction". For a connector you should use

"pas" because you cannot determine its function at library creation

time. I think the default is "I/O" or similar.
