Autorouting issues

Never fails that when I make the accidental mistake of moving a part around

a board on anything less than .05" grid, the autorouter will never finish

the job again.  If I drop the routing grid to 1mil, it could take 12 hours

or more.

In cases where I place the parts on a grid of .05, it is usually a fast

route, with only slight mods needed if there is a traffic jam.

But, like yesterday, on a board layout I have been working on for weeks, I

dropped the grid to .0125 to move some parts closer together, then remained

in that grid to move some other parts, sure enough, typical route is 20

minutes plus, and never completes using 10mil,  less than 10 mil I am

looking at hours to route.

The only solution to complete the board is to start over, new board, place

everything .05", route at 10 mil.  Major hassle as there are tons of parts

placed in specific locations.

If there were a workaround for this nightmare I would appreciate it.

If you placed the parts on a 0.0125 grid, wouldn't it have been

reasonable to use the same grid for the autorouter ?

Alternatively, if the pads for the parts were on a 0.05 grid and then

the part was placed on a 0.0125 grid, where does that leave the pads ?

    (My head hurts...)
