Possible to copy/paste components on board layout?

I have a board that is just a big array of SMT LED's.  I have laid out one

group of these LED's, but I need to lay out 250 groups in all.

I know I could possibly write a ULP or something, but I am looking for a

quicker way.  What I wish I could do is group-select my section of already

placed LED's, then copy-paste them (maintaining their placement relative

to one another) in a tile format until I have them all placed.

Of course when I try to do this, it says "cannot back annotate this

operation, please do this in the schematic".  I know what it's saying and

why, just not sure how to do it.... any tips?

From what I have seen in the groups.

    1. make sure all names are sequential.

    2. Close board. group sch and cut and paste.

    3. Close sch open board group components cut and paste.

    4. Open sch and board. Check-fix nets so annotation is consistent.

I also remember a good how to sent to the list. Search for duplicate and

    array.

    Thanks for the replies.

This is something it would be nice if Cadsoft added... I have several

'standard' modules I use (like regulator circuits) where it's really the

board portion I want to copy and paste, not the schematic.  The trick you

mentioned will work, but is definitely a trick to fool Eagle into allowing

it.  I should be able to have multiple boards open in one copy of Eagle,

and select parts of one board and paste them into the other, and have the

components show on the schematic the same way they show on the board, if I

had copied/pasted them into the schematic.
