First Public Information about EAGLE V7

Hello Everyone,

I just came across this video of Thomas Liratsch (Managing Directory of

CadSoft) at the Embedded World show in Nuremberg, Germany.  This is the

first public information I've heard about the v7 release.  Not many details

yet but he mentioned 3 main points:

- expected release of mid-2014

- new auto-router module, completely redone

- hierarchical design  -- that's a big one for many

If they nail these and clean up a bunch of the little things that need

polishing this could be a solid release.  See video below...

Cheers,

James.

I'm still on EAGLE 5.  I've been working towards an upgrade to version 6, but now I'm thinking I should skip 6 and just wait for 7.  Will the upgrade price from 5 to 7 be less than the price to go from 5 to 6 and then 6 to 7?

Very interesting, let the speculation begin.

I was thinking in the last few days that Cadsoft will integrate FreeRouter

so the announcement of a new autorouter makes me smile. That's my

    speculation, we will see.

Hi Doug, I don't have any inside information.  Historically the upgrade

would cost more from older versions.  For V6 there was a good discount for

    V5 -> V6, an OK discount for V4 -> V6 but none for V3.5 -> V6.  So if they

keep the same logic there would be some sort of discount from V5 -> V7 but

    not from V4.

But we won't know for sure until that information is public.  Even if I

    knew (and I don't) I couldn't tell you--or I'd have to kill you image  It's

    all very hush-hush you know.

    Cheers,

    James.

That's ominous.  I think EAGLE has, hands-down, the best licensing

management of ANY CAD tool.  It's hard to improve the current system for

    users.

that would most likely be improved form cadsofts point of view 8-(

I most sincerely hope that won't be the case.

Truth is believed that it is possible exists improvement in the eagle7 in 8 in the 9

Has reached version 6.5, having serious deficiencies,(auto-plase,inport picture e.t.c)

Functions that are basic to other cad

I leave the lacks in library editor because they will need enough pages
