Is a switch "open",  "opened", "close" or "closed"?

Hello,

 

I designed a SMT solder jumper part for my PCB layout program. The part

consists of two pads that can be connected via a solder joint. I

designed two parts. One part represents the open(ed) solder jumper the

other part represents the close(ed) solder jumper. So I named the first

part "Solderjumper_open" and the second part "Solderjumper_closed". At

this point I was wondering, should I write "open" and "closed" or

"opened" and "closed" or even "open" and "close".*Is there any native

English speaker who can illuminate me?*

 

I know a store is "open" or "closed". Is it the same for switches?

    Funny, I've never really considered how strange that is.

     

    If you talking about a past tense verb then you would use "opened" and

    "closed".  But in this case we have an adjective and you are correct: a

    switch is either "open" or "closed".  That is the correct english usage,

    though now I'm not sure why image
