Saving Partially Routed Board

Hello,

   There may be a better idea of doing this.  Please let me know if what

I want to do us not a good way.  I just manually routed the power

supplies on a board and I was wondering if I can save the current state

so when I run the autorouter and it is unable to complete, I can get

back to the current state to try and fix things before I run the

autorouter again.

    This is a very good method. Use "Save as" to store the complete design

    with different names for the different design stages (or layout

    experiments...).

    I use a source code management system (Subversion) for this. Any time a

    design has reached a stage I might want to go back to, I commit the

    changes. This way, if I find that I've gone down the wrong path I can

    always back up to a known point and start from there.

     

    Subversion works quite well with binary files, you do lose the ability

    to generate a list of differences as you can with text files. Thus it's

    critical to be descriptive in the commit log.
