PCB Dynamic View

ameliaamelia
ameliaamelia over 16 years ago

I translated the Eagle3D Matthias Weier's (c) work.

I implemented the 3d42.ulp to generate script also for the new engine.

1- POV-Ray is free but creates a single frame; we can do a   simple

sequence of 20-40 frame-sequence.

2- The engine that I use does cost a lot, but I can view the assembly in

the 3D space.

3- My PC is a little toy (Intel:6700 2.66Mhz Ram:4GB Nvidia:8600GT 256k).

4- Download the following MP4

http://rapidshare.com/files/251580632/PCB3DynView.mp4.html

5- here I am to start a following survey:

   a- is the project usable

b- is the project of interest to you

c- do you agree to participate to define standard Cadsoft-  Eagle's

packages archive in the form of .lib .pdf .

If at the end I will found positive reasons to continue:

6- The project will be Open-Source type.

7- All new components will be maintained and owned by me and free

distributed using the download from the www..... dedicated site.

Please take in account that this type of work will take a long and heavy

path, but here I am.

Welcome to Cadsoft' guys.

Other news, next post.

    TITLE: TEARDROPS

I modified (not yet finish) the teardrops2.ulp.

I added teardrops to the SMD.

    View the following video.

    http://rapidshare.com/files/251624898/PCB3DynView_TearDrops.mp4

When OK I will post it in the ULP download.

    NEWS:

    1- The graphic engine for PCB3DynView is 3dsMax 2010.

2- Maxscript language, quite similar to the POV-Ray language.

3- The rendering time of the single image 1280x1024 on POV-Ray

is the same for 3dsmax for the complete image(first post) 64 seconds.

4- After the scene is create, I use the 3Dconnexion mouse (spatial mouse)

    to move the pcb-assembly.

I'm very interested in rotating my pcb in real time..

Have you looked at VRML/X3D viewers for this job? In theory you could make

an ULP to generate the full vrml/x3d data directly and view it in a standard

    browser..

    TITLE: VRML/X3D

My intentions are to have an archive from which to draw the scripts for

different viewers, so I put X3d in the todo-list.

I do not know X3d, as soon as possible I will study the syntax of it.

I think it will be a problem requiring a costly 3D package to do this.

I could spend that money on other PCB tools that integrate 3d modeling

    for the same price.

    R3

    TITLE: COSTLY 3D package

1- Yes, you are right, 3dsmax costs, a lot.

2- I use it because I have it.

3- Currently there is not a PCB-CAD product that makes high quality

dynamic rendering (es. Alti... displays silhouettes, not a real images).

4- A tool/method is chosen according to a level of quality/service on the

    target.

5- But the main reason of my project is to implement, for the

CADSOFT-EAGLE, an Open-Source render-archive; my efforts are on this.

I think #3 is a bad assumption.  I am not sure which version of Altium

Designer you are referring to but the one on my machine is dynamic and

very high quality with 'real' images.   I can "peel" away layers to see

blind/buried vias with interal routing,  pan, rotate, zoom all in real

time.  I can even place and route in "3d".   Just press the "3" key and

you are in a dynamic 3D mode.  It all happen instantly.    It even does

real time clearance checking against external 3D models in MCAD packages

    (such as Solidworks).

Mentor Graphics PADs now has real time 3D capabilities too.
