To correctly display text on the bottom surface, what should the
settings be?
Layer= 26bNames?
Text mirrored (and thus shows up as mirrored in the board view)?
Thanks

you can put the text on any layer you want, what makes it appear on the
bottom of the board is whether that layer is included in the bottom
silkscreen gerber file. make sure you use vector font or you will get a
nasty surprise when the board arrives ( been there ).
the text should be mirrored when viewed in the board editor which is a
top view. if the text is attached to a package, it will mirror
automatically when you mirror the package to place it on the bottom.

Gary,
Thanks for the feedback. Have already had two surprises with missing
(wrong layer) and mirrored (correct layer, but not mirrored on board view)..
I am not familiar with what you mean by package??

Gary,
Never mind the package question. Read your comments a little to fast and
before that first cup of coffee.. Yes, I know what you meant.
Having been through two text errors, I just need to be more careful.
One unexpected effect-- and that may be the nasty surprise you referred
to-- is although the mirrored text is displayed inside the board with
the proportional font that was used, part of the text is cut off as it
is positioned too close to the physical board edge.
Ken
proportional fonts can not be drawn onto the finished boards, they will
be converted to vector fonts, with unpredictable sizes and locations. do
not use proportional fonts on your board.
I sense you may be new at this. is your text attached to a component's
package ( such as name or value) or just written onto the bottom
silkscreen as additional information?
