Rust inhibitor circuit

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

Hi

I was wondering, does anyone happen to know of any schematics for those rust

inhibitor circuits that prevent rust from forming on your vehicle?

it's JUST a little circuit that send current to little sacrificial anodes

you mount on your vehicle in certain places.

Thanks

Glen

I have no schematic, but I'm afraid they don't work all that well anyway:

    Thanks Bob! for the link.

Anyone else have a schematic, for a rust Inhibitor circuit?

    Cirquit?

I guess it just limits current in case of overload/short cirquit, and a

voltage regulator to make it have sufficient voltage but not ecessively

    to cause unecessary wear.

So some adjustable or fixed voltage regulator and resistor to limit to

    one mA or such...

But i doubt it works on vehicles, as the effect will be very local.

On boats it is another deal, when the vehicle is in the "electrolytic"

Common on boats is to use Zink slabs.

On vehicles the method is to use zink plated steel - which is used

nowadays.  There are also zink sprays you can use to repair or add this

to old vehicle; first grind to bare metal, then spray the zink coating,

    then paint or protective layer.

    Much better and more reliable!

Interestingly enough,  they put a zinc strip down the bottom of caskets

    as well
