top and bottom layers do not line up

Kind of gets confusing...!  Think looking through the top to the bottom.

But YES, this board house in particular would love for that default to be

changed.  We do check them coming in but would prefer the bottom (or any

layer) not to be mirrored.

The reason this is confusing is because you guys are not giving a reference

for "mirrored".

What board houses want is for all the Gerber files to have the same origin

and the same orientation as if you are looking thru the board from the top

with xray vision to see the stack of layers.  In other words, layer 1 is

written to the Gerber file normally.  The bottom layer is written as it

would appear looking thru the board from the top.  This is the mirror image

of what it would look like if you were holding the board and looking at the

bottom layer.  Whether you call this "mirrored" or not I have no idea.

I just checked a canned CAM processor job I have, and apparently Eagle's

reference is the same as what board houses want, meaning all layers are as

if viewed thru the board with the top layer up.  You don't want any of the

Mirror, Rotate, or Upside down boxes checked.  If any of these are the

default, then that's just wrong.  It's been a long time since I set up

template CAM jobs that I don't remember if the Eagle defaults had these

boxes unchecked, or I unchecked them many years ago once.
