top and bottom layers do not line up

Hi all,

I printed out cam files using the cam processor. When I viewed the files in

gerbviewer i noticed that the layers do not line up. I am not sure why but

the board houses refuse to make the boards because the drills end up going

through the wrong place. For example, the bottom layer ends up reversed and

the top layer remains the same. So the drill holes and solder mask on the

bottom layer are not at the right location. Thanks a lot guys for your help.

Thanks in advance.

I just checked a canned CAM processor job I have, and apparently Eagle's

reference is the same as what board houses want, meaning all layers are as

if viewed thru the board with the top layer up.  You don't want any of the

Mirror, Rotate, or Upside down boxes checked.  If any of these are the

default, then that's just wrong.  It's been a long time since I set up

template CAM jobs that I don't remember if the Eagle defaults had these

boxes unchecked, or I unchecked them many years ago once.

That's exactly the problem. The CAM job that comes with EAGLE has

"mirrored" checked for the bottom layer. Though this has been discussed

here for several years now, and every then and now people ask this same

question, that default has not been corrected yet. People simply take

the CAM job provided with EAGLE and then run into problems.

    layer.

That's a really dumb default since it's opposite of what board houses want.

It should be the other way around, although it's not a big deal since it's

easy to change, and you only have to do it once over the lifetime of using

    Eagle.

Well, duh!  Someone who can't be bothered to read the docs or even check

their gerber files with a free viewer deserves to get the bottom layer of

    their board flipped.
