"Multi-gate" symbol creation question

Former Member
Former Member over 7 years ago

Hello All,

Back in PCB design after many, many years using OrCad and Layo1. Had some hours on Eagle for the past days but have a serious question here. Currently using V7.5.0.

How to create a symbol where the package has two of those or more symbols inside. I am into tube amplifiers and want to create some symbols for valves as E88CC etc. The E88CC is a triode tube which has two elements in one housing.

I am able to create a symbol, package and device so thats fine but: How to create the electrical symbol for multiple "gates". Is there a small tutorial available to get me started on this?

Thanks in advance, Misju

    Hello,

You can create your individual symbols and then add each of them (as many times as needed) into the symbol section of the device. You'll then be able to map package pins to the pins of all the symbol gates in the mapping dialog box.

    Best Regards,

    Rachael

Again thanks rachaelp, I figured out that you can create symbols without a package also. As you said I created a tube (triode) symbol with a 9 pin package and a power symbol. The power symbol is just a circle with three pins for filament power and a ground. In the device editor I added twice the tube symbol and the power symbol coming to 9 pins in total. Schematic is finished, well need to fine tune some things but ok!
