Hobbyist upgrade from v7.7 to v8

nmccloud

So I'm prompted by the software to upgrade when I launch this morning and I've now lost an hour of my life trying to figure out what's going on.

If I install v8.0.2, will I be able to use it as is, no fuss no muss, or do I then need to subscribe?

    Hi,

No, it's free, if you have the free version.

The subscription button is a offer for you if you like to buy it.

Then you have to go to Autodesks web site and make a contract.

You can also buy by an distributor in your town.

The software comes downloadable as a full version but the registering key comes as "free version".

So you can beginn with your projects immediately.

I don't have the free version, I have the paid for hobbyist version but I don't know if I will have to subscribe if I install the update I'm being prompted about.

Unfortunately, yes. And I'm not even sure V8 supports the "paid

hobbyist" concept, so you either lose capabilities or pay more.

If the version you have now is working for you, probably best not to

    upgrade...

    Hi,

    ok,
currently what i know is that since V8 Autodesk have changed the license policy to the subscription version.

So you can have two paid versions: standard and premium.

The third version is the free version.

EAGLE Subscription | Buy Autodesk EAGLE | Autodesk

Well, if you have your version 7.7.0 and you likes upgrading to version 8 then you have to pay minimum a standard version.
With there are two possibilities - monthly or per year.

All other before V8 is obsolete (in this meaning, license policy). Cadsoft is history.

You can work with this old versions without any restrictions but just in its category.
Technical seeing, the V8 can read and work files from V6, V7, and higher, but not backwards - V6, V7 cannot work files from V8.
The components are compatible from V6 to V8 or higher.
What brings the future - i don't know; I'm not Autodesk.

I think momentary, its better that you work with your hobby version.

I have the same problem but with pro version.

    Best Regards,

    Gerald
