I don't know wether to address Windows 7, EAGLE 5.11.0 (Professional), or my newly installed (today) Texas Instruments Hercules eval kit + CCS (including various hardware drivers), but this is what just happened;
Without any warning, notice, or explaination, all my custom libraries disappeared from the eagle/lbr folder. It is safe to say I am pissed, and I will get to the bottom of this as I make my living doing this stuff and it will cost me (or my employer) thousands of $$$.
I've dug around with a file recovery tool with no success, the files does not even seem to be deleted in a regular manner. They were all there (\lbr folder) yesterday, I still have some of them embedded in project files (stored in Documents folder, no data lost there..) and hope there will be a way to extract those library components from the schematic/board files (anyone?). When I booted up today, the libraries were all gone (yes we DO use backup copies over here, but not of everything every day).
I have fairly good control of my computer (well above your average Joe), and noone sneaks around on it. Full Norton protection, everything, common sense filter that filters out stupid email attachment idiocy, and I'm not installing anything from dubious sources as I work with military stuff and this is my work computer. I am the only one using my laptop, and those files are gone with the wind. Go figure. I have *not* selected all those custom libs by accident and slipped my fingers over Shift+Del.
If anyone have any similar experiences with Eagle 5.11.0 + Win7 or similar setups, please speak up. I am pissed to the point that whatever caused this incident, being Eagle or Windows 7 or whatever third party piece of software, will positively be eliminated from my software work budget unless an comphensation is made from responsible parties along with a speedy bugfix. Comphensation without a lawsuit is rather unlikely as I know the software industry, so I guess it'll end up in a software boycott from my business, plus perhaps (by norwegian law as one need to abide by when selling ANY product in Norway), money back for any software licenses, if the product does not fulfill what is reasonable to expect from it. I should add that I've never experienced this in my past years with earlier versions of EAGLE, so I'm *not* pointing fingers at you guys, I just want to get to the bottom of this.
Sincerely,
Kjetil
