Modifing package in library isn't changing board

I have version 5.11 and have used eagle for years now, recently upgraded our 3 licences and library is some how different.

used to open library, modify package or add a package to existing device, and connect pins between symbol and package then use libarary update from menu, and board would change to new package.

But either i am airhead or there is somthing different about way it's done

also under change menu there was option to change package, now instead it has technology but the packages i added aren't showing up either is there a new method I don't understand?

Previously when you opened a library to modify it and then returned to the

design and performed a "library update/ update all" it worked reliably.

What seems to be happening now, on occasion, is that the library resets its

USE setting so the design can't  use your recently modified library.

Ensure it is USED before the update.

This has happened to me a only a few times but did happen again two days

    ago.

There have been a few posts recently suggesting this is happening. The trick

is to view that the library is 'used' prior to the library mods to ensure

one is clear that this is happening.

Now that you mention it, this has happened to me several times - a

library in use gets dropped.  I've always blamed it on some boneheaded

engineer that dropped it with an errant mouse click.

It seems to surround editing a library and updating it.  I'll have to

start keeping closer track of exact keystrokes and clicks so Cadsoft can

    duplicate it.

    Enjoy,

        - Chuck
