SMD and Solder Mask

Former Member
Former Member over 13 years ago

I'm new to Eaglecad anddoing my first SMD project.

How can I be sure that my SMD pads will not be covered with solder mask?  I figure I need to put a "solder mask" blocking around those area or something like that.  How do you do that, and what layer do they go on?  Is there a tutorial on this topic?

Thanks.

The layers are tStop for the Top of the board and bStop for the Bottom

The SMD pads of library parts normally automatically produce the solder stop

mask. Optionally it can be turned off in the library for a pad.

Once in the Board editor you can ajust the layers viewed to confirm the

solder stop mask is present. It is a negative representation. Where you see

the mask area shown, that area will be free of solder stop coating exposing

    the copper.

There is a manual and tutorial in the docs folder of your installation.

There are many tutorials on the web.
