Need some Eagle Netlist format explanation

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hi -

I use to use Eagle back during Rev 4.x.  Now I have a need to write a ULP that will customize the NetList output for a unique application.

Would someone explain the following Netlist output:

Exported from EagleTest2.sch at 9/5/2014 8:46:11 AM

EAGLE Version 7.0.0 Copyright (c) 1988-2014 CadSoft

Net      Part     Pad      Pin        Sheet

N$1      J1       1        S          1
            J1        2        S          1
            W1       1        1          1

N$2      J1        5        S          1
            W2       1        1          1

N$3      J1        3        S          1
             J1       4        S          1
            W3       1        1          1

N$4      P1       1        S          1
             P1       2        S          1
            W1       2        2          1

N$5      P2       2        S          1

N$6      P1       3        S          1
            W3       2        2          1

This simple test netlist is simply some net connections from one connector to another connector.  The Wx components are components that I created.  All of the connectors were prebuilt libraries.

Please explain why the connectors show the pin as 'S' in the pin column?  I'm sure this is something simple but I cannot seem to understand why.

Inspecting the part library does not reference 'S'.  Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi Jim

I feel that doesn't look right at all. You may have revealed an issue

    with Version 7.

I suggest you practice with an export of the net list of the example

singlesided.sch that comes with eagle. Heres the first few lines of that

    (using v6.6)

You can see the pin names of the symbol and the pad they are associated

    with (connected) in the library.

    Thanks Warren -

I will find a copy of Ver 6 and try exporting the net list.
