Well that's probably not a bad thing, at least Autodesk understand how software development works. Hopefully under new ownership the EAGLE development team will get the resources it needs to start to deliver some of the features people have been asking for....

I hope it will not bring up the discussion about the license management
or the license model up again (Autodesk starts the same BS with
"renting" the software or using a FlexLM based solution)
Good luck to us all!

Well Autodesk should have heard the noise about the license management...
Personally I think that Farnell has miscalculated the success of selling
materials according the BOM lists generated by Eagle. Another thing
might be afaik the "large amount of new features" in the new versions
which tend to turn away people...

I cannot wait till they remove this pesky attributes again from the
stock libraries, it messed up my BOMs ever since

Maybe Autodesk will find a useful way to integrate electronic CAD with mechanical CAD. Most import/export methods of doing this today are a long, long way from optimal.

FAQ: http://www.cadsoft.de/training/faq/
Maybe Autodesk could implement the ability to open EAGLE .brd files directly in Fusion360 and then allow STEP models to be assigned to the various components (either manually or from attributes) to create an overall 3D model of a board much the same way as the application Copper does on OS X.
Anyway, I'm most happy that the Cadsoft team will now hopefully have owners who understand software development and will give the time and resources needed to get some of the really big features we've all been asking for implemented. With a parent company the size of Autodesk I think Cadsoft finally has a real chance of gaining some ground on the big three vendors (Mentor/Cadence/Altium).
Best Regards,
Rachael
