This probably won't solve the world's problems, make everyone happy, and
will probably be outright rejected by Autodesk. So here it is:)
Instead of subscribing for a month, then having it forcibly expire,
purchase a month (or xx months or years)...then it is registered on your PC
in your "month bank". You can start using it as soon as you
purchase/subscribe to it...or you might wait 6 months or 16 years to use
it. When you use Eagle, the "days left" meter slowly counts down...but you
get to decide when you use it. Of course you purchase more months before
or whenever you run out. But you could put it aside for 7 months & pick up
where you left off. By always keeping a few months in your bank you at
least never depend 100% on Autodesk servers going kaput 8 years from now.
For the occasional or highly intermittent user, this gives a coarse
illusion of a perpetual license (since you can use it up drop by drop).
For the high volume, constant users, the required monthly renewals will
keep Autodesk's coffins filled with cash.
