Greetings,
I am using Eagle 5.2.0.
I'd like to upgrade to 5.10.0.
What is the procedure for upgrading? Do I need to uninstall the old version
first?
Will the old version be overwritte if I don't uninstall it?
Thanks

Whenever I have upgraded (windows/linux vesions) the new Eagle version
has installed in its own new directory leaving the older versions
intact. If you have created your own part libraries or modified any of
the ones that come with Eagle you may have to selectively copy the
revised lib files and/or modify the search path for libraries.

However, that would mean our support staff would have to
read all three of these places (two of them being web-frontends,
which, as we both know, is a nightmare to handle).
They would most likely end up answering the same questions
in all three places.
That's why, when Farnell wanted to have an EAGLE support forum,
we insisted on it being a mirror of our news groups. That way
our support staff has one central place to handle support
requests, and the EAGLE community doesn't get segmented.

Eagle upgrade is impossible... For that matter it is hard to buy it too!
I had this problem when i first bought it too, and now deja-vu all over again.
I payed them.... That part always seems to work <grin>
Then I try to upgrade to V6 and it says "you have a non-profit license contact cadsoft"... when I contacted them was when they asked me to pay them which I did... and that worked. But then I still can't upgrade. it stil says the same thing.
I treid re-downloading and using my existing license file. - it says it is not allowed
I tried re-running the original license file getter script in the packing list from the first package, they no longer seem to send a packing list, ... to get a new license key... it says my download code is ILLEGAL and puts up all sorts of broken image links, and the page is all yellow (old cadsoft design).
So far it has only been a couple of days.... Maybe someone should put "Ecommerce" into the suggestion box.
Sorry to be so peevish.

Hi Bruce0,
Don't worry we still send packing lists:) If you haven't received a new
packing list for the upgrade, or if you've already used it then contact
us and we'll send it again.
The packing list e-mail contains a PDF attached, on the second page
you'll see a link that will take you to our server to download your key
file and obtain your installation code.
Once you follow the link, you'll reach a page that asks for your serial
number and download code both of which can be found in the PDF. Once you
enter those click "Get License". This will take you to the End User
License Agreement page, go ahead and accept it. Now you'll reach a page
with a button that says download .key. Look above the button in bold
you'll see ten lowercase letters, write them down, that's your
INSTALLATION CODE. Now click the button to download the KEY FILE, make
sure you know where it's being saved to.
If you haven't already done so download the latest version of EAGLE from
www.cadsoftusa.com-> Downloads-> Betatest (currently our latest release
is a beta). Install it as normal. Now near the end it will pop up with
a box asking you if you want to "use a license file", "use Freemium
code", "Run as Freeware", or "cancel". Select "use license file" and
then provide the path to the key file you downloaded, browsing to the
file is the easiest way and then type in your installation code.
If you've already installed the latest version of EAGLE on your machine,
then you can license it by clicking Help -> EAGLE License from the EAGLE
control panel.
Sorry to be so verbose, I hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Jorge Garcia
