How do I do a custom part list?

Former Member
Former Member over 15 years ago

I want to generate a part list that shows an attribute I have added to my

parts.

I'd like to store a part number with every part.  I don't necessarily want

that shown on the schematic or the place layers.  I used to use the "value"

field, but that gets shown and some parts don't let me enter a value, so I

started adding an attribute (i.e. "DIGIKEY") to all the parts in my

schematic.  Now it's time to do a parts list, and I'd like this attribute

displayed as a column in my parts list.

How do I do this easily?

If there's not an easy way to do this, is there a way to export the

schematic as text that I can postprocess outside of Eagle?

You can create your own attributes that can be shown or not on the

schematic as you want.  Look up the ATTRIBUTE command.

Please read my entire post.  I know how to make attributes.  This would be

obvious if you had read the post.  I want to know how to display those

attributes in a column when I make my parts list.

Try this ULP from the Cadsoft download area:

    ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/eagle/userfiles/ulp/bom_with_attributes.zip

Have you tried "run bom".   When the BOM dialog appears click on the

"New" button which calls up another dialog where you can enter a set of

headers for the columns that you want in your custom BOM.   You can add

pretty much anything (Manufacturer, Man. PN,  Vendor,  Vendor PN,  Unit

Cost,  URL to datasheet for the part)...etc.    After defining these

columns in your BOM you can then go through part by part and fill in the

data.   When done save the database file so you can (re)load it later.

You can print the generated BOM as text or html (the text is pretty easy

      also to import into spreadsheet).

That's exactly what I wanted.  Thank you so much.
