Tying common nets togeth er?

mprowe@peritonlane.net

Hi,

How do I tie nets together without drawing lines all over the schematic?

Much like I would use a supply component, say +12v or GND. But one that I

could link to my nets.

Like so:

myNet----*       no line drawn but the "star" says that both myNets are

linked      *----myNet

Regards, Martin

All nets that share a name in a schematic are connected, whether there

is a line drawn or not. Use the "Name" command to set the name of a net.

You can also use the "Label" command to display the name of a net on the

    schematic.

Thank you. Yes, that is very helpful.

But is there a bit more finesse that we can add to the schematic? For

example if a line terminates (without warning) on one edge of the drawing.

How does the reader know that this is deliberate and not just a mistake?

Are there any dummy components (other than the label command) that flag the

continuation of this net elsewhere within the diagram?

    Regards, Martin

That's entirely up to you; Eagle doesn't care. When viewing within Eagle

if you select a net all of its pieces on the current page will

highlight, but that's a bit tedious and doesn't help when looking at

    printed schematics.

My preference is to place labels wherever a drawn net terminates. You

can choose between a simple label or an inter-page label that has a box

drawn around it. I also make a point of having a the net line end

conspicuously, though I've seen plenty of schematics that don't bother

    with such niceties.

Ahhhhhhh....... Thank you. That was the clue I needed.

From there I was able to Google and find the (Incy Wincy!) Xref switch.

Many thanks for helping out a beginner, Martin
