Component Question

Hi, I have question on what is the general consensus on symbol Creation for Eagle components.

 

I am creating some of my own libraries, Maybe I will change my mind.

 

Question is: For a component like Diodes Incorporated BAV23A(Common Anode SOT-23-3), How would you create the Schematic Symbol for the Eagle Library. Would you do it like a regular IC Like this (This one is from Element 14 Library).

Or would you do something like this(My Own Creation) and why?

    Hi Josh,

     

    Yes it all depends on your intended schematic. For example here is a MOSFET symbol, but I created it unconventionally, i.e. at 45 degrees.

    It allows for some nice arrangements if I want to connect multiple ones, to make the final schematic look more elegant (to me - maybe not to others!), e.g.:

    Thanks shabaz, I did notice this when I started making my library component for Diodes Incorporated BAV23S(Series SOT-23-3) I created it with diodes parallel to each other. I think I will change it, to back-to-back

    I think you've self-answered one important reason to design your own component parts for anything more complex

    than a resistor or capacitor or diode..

     

    Bearing in mind that a schematic is a logical representation of a physical circuit, if you were looking at someone's

    completed schematic, which symbol would you prefer they should have used?

     

    Also, consider that some schematics may look nicer with the diodes positioned back-to-back, whereas others may look nicer

    with them parallel to each other.
