Autorouter Layer Weightings

Former Member

When routing multilayer boards it is often desirable to have a signal routed

on a particular layer.  For example: power signals on top, digital on an

inner layer, analog on a different inner layer etc.  It would be really nice

to be able to add a preferred layer to a signal and/or a class for the

autorouter.

It is true that you can currently autoroute one group of signals with a set

of layer costs and then route the next group with a different cost, but this

method often ends up with very undesirable results.  Typically the first

group of signals routed will cut off the other signals from their logical

path because the autorouter is only considering the group of signals it is

currently routing.

Thanks,

Again, in the future this should be handeled by the class system.
