How to completly disable sounds?

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

Creating a new device/symbol/component in library produces the default

annoying BEEP on windows. How can we disable this? (I have allready

unchecked "Beep" in Option/Set/Misc)

It's not a critical event (like close window without saving the work) so I

think the beep is not needed and disturbing.

I assume that this is the sound Windows plays when displaying

a message box. You may want to turn that off in Windows.

Then why keep the option "Beep" in Eagle's settings if by unchecking-it,

    Eagle still beeps?!

I work in Eagle. I click on something in your software. From my point of

view, Eagle tells Widows to beep. So Eagle beeps. Try listening some quiet

music when creating components in a library and you will understand my point

    of view....

I won't disable the whole beep in Windows just for 1 software that abuse of

    that feature...

(although I understand what you mean - in fact Eagle calls a Windows

    function, and that function beeps)

I guess Klaus tries to say that if windows is set to beep, Eagle can't (or

    shouldnt) turn it off.

I should add, look in "sound and audio devices" in your control panel, goto

the sounds tab and check your program events.

(I always set this to "no sounds" cause the programs I want to make sounds,

    do it anyway)

So, you buy a car and then adjust the road to fit your car...

    not everybody can do that!

Well, if you got a traffic light crossing, no setting in the car can remove

    that..

    Not quite the same situation:

Eagle abuses of the function that beeps, when creating a new symbol or

    package...

A normal OK/Cancel dialog would be perfect there, not a dialog with

exclamation sounds... It's not such a big deal to create a new symbol, so

that annoying sounds to bother everybody in the room!
