Component replacement

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

Hi there...

How can I replace all 0805 size resistors with 0603 resistors.  I have tried

CHANGE PACKAGE R0805 R0603 and all combinations: 'R0805' 'R0603' etc.  The

only way it works is if I enter the component name: CHANGE PACKAGE R1 R0603

which means I still have to do individual components...

Thanks

Lance

    This sounds like a job for a ULP.

    Spin through all the components on a schematic, then for each component

    check for a package equal to "R0805".  If so, print "change packge Rx

    R0603" to an output file ending with ".scr", then run the script.

    Try saving the following ULP in your project directory and running it.

    It will produce a script "test.scr" that you can run from your

    schematic.  This will provide a good example on the ULP language.  It

    can come in very handy for batch oriented tasks such as this and is well

    worthwhile learning.

    Enjoy,

        - Chuck

    // Make sure we're in a schematic

    if (schematic) schematic(S) {

        // Output to a file in the project directory

        output("test.scr", "wt") {

            // Spin through the parts on a schematic

            S.parts(P) {

                // For each part...

                // ... that has a package

                if (P.device.package) {

                    // ... and the name of the package is "R0805"

                    if (strstr(P.device.package.name, "R0805") >= 0) {

                        // print a change package command for the part's name

                        printf("change package %s R0603;\n", P.name);

                    }

                }

            }

        }

    }

    This sounds like a job for a ULP.

    It should also be possible by command line, i.e.

    change package 'r0603'  ...

    (At least I've done it that way before.)

    It should also be possible to apply that command to a group. (Only those

    devices that have the desired package variant will be changed.)

    It should also be possible by command line, i.e.

    change package 'r0603'<klick>  <klick>  <klick>  ...

    Far to much to work ..

    select elements in BRD with GROUP, type in

    CHANGE PACKAGE R-EU_R0603

    btw.

    CHANGE PACKAGE R-US_R0603

                    ^^^^^|

    Name of deviceset   ^^^^^

                         package variant

    The shortness version:

    ch pac R-US_R0603

    and now click with rigth mouse button at the group. image

    Only elements defined this package in deviceset can change.
