Need some help

Hi Bart,

Firstly, people might be struggling to work out what you are asking here as the actual links above all appear to link to PCB2.jpg even though the text above is correct.

So it looks like nothing is connected in PCB1.jpg and looking back at the schematics in PCB.jpg when looking really closely it looks like the nets are overlapping the LED pin connections. This makes me wonder if things are off grid and not making connections correctly. You can confirm this by trying to move one of the LED's in the schematic. If a net moves with it then it is connected, if not then it's not connected.

If it is not connected as I suspect then do the following.

1) Ensure the grid is set to 0.1" as follows:

grid in <enter>

grid 0.1 <enter>

2) Move each LED back onto the grid as follows:

move <enter> (or click on the move icon in the toolbar)

ctrl + left click each LED in turn.

3) Redo all the wiring as follows:

del <enter> (or click on the delete icon the the toolbar)

click on each net in turn to delete it.

net <enter> (or click on the net icon in the toolbar)

click to add new nets as appropriate to reconnect all your LED's.

I updated the links, so they should all work fine now. Thanks for mentioning it.

They were not connected as you said. Probably because i'm using centimeters and the objects in the program are made in inches, so i just started a new project.

This is how the project looks right now:

I couldn't find the same high power led symbol like this in the library list:

So i used another one from the library list. Does it matter that the symbol crosses the line a bit? I guess this is only the drawing that crosses the line?

And how do i make the copper lines wider? When i change the setting in the top nothing seems to happen.

Hi Bart,

So the first thing to remember with creating schematics, always use a 0.1 inch grid and don't change it unless you need to say reposition some label text above a wire or something, but then always make sure you change it back immediately afterward. Failure to stick to the 0.1" grid will lead to problems like you have already discovered.

Your PCB4.jpg file link isn't working so I can't see what actual part you are requiring but if the PCB pads for the parts you have used are compatible then technically the other elements which are component body outlines on tPlace probably aren't really an issue going over the edge of the board just for a quick one off board, but personally I would create a new library part which has the correct body outline and then it also forces you to double check the pad dimensions and positions too as the selected part may be subtly different from the one you intend to use.

To change the width of your existing traces do the following:

cha wid 2.54 <enter>

click on each segment of each of the traces to change their width.
