Arrow Keys /  LMB

This has been discussed before -

Eagle is the first CAD package that did not let you use the arrow keys for

fine positioning, especially in PCB's.

Yes you can zoom in real tight and change your grid and get there, but even

zoomed out, you know your arrow keys just move one grid point and it's very

quick and easy to move from 'A' to 'B'.

Is there any reason (and it is a given that I am just a new person) that

the arrow keys are NOT enabled for positioning in MOVE's and PLACE

operations?

"It still seems the best way to move something with precision."

"...this would be very helpful! Moves can be straight and precise without

having to zoom in and watch the grid." (other user quotes)

Someone mentioned

http://www.wavenumber.net/library/files/mmouse.zip

and this link seems to be dead, but I did discover

Mouse Button Control 11.06.01 at http://www.electrasoft.com/

which seems to work OK except it moves one screen pix and if your grid is

set to say .025 in PCB you have to hit the arrow key many times before you

get to the next grid point.

If someone asked me what I'd really like, (and no-one has) I'd have the

cursor move one grid point for every arrow movement NSE&W and move one

alternative grid point when the alt key is pressed.  This probably only

needs to be active during moves and places.

One other point - When I am positioning to a very tight position with the

mouse, I'd really like a key stroke alternative (maybe there already is

one, but I couldn't find it) to give me a LMB as when I click the Left

Mouse Button, sometimes the mouse moves a bit and I have to go through the

whole process over again.

...and yes, I know if I zoom in REAL TIGHT, I probably won't have this

problem.

One final off topic comment: I LOVE the MARK command!!!!!

Tks for listening

Mike

You can use  (@)  for placing a component at the current position of the

    mouse cursor.

To make it easier asign it with a key, for example with Ctrl + P:

        ASSIGN C+P '(@)' ;

Now move th mouse at the location you want to place the part and do a

    Ctl+P.
