Making your own Fiducials

Former Member

I have searched here on the forum to find out where and how fiducials are

done and discovered they are in the marks library. That's all good and well

except I want to make my own, and put them in my own library. I have made a

fiducial, or so it seems, yet I cannot import it into my layout becuase

Eagle complains about back-annotation. I don't understand, in essence my

package (because that's what those "marks" are) is basically the same thing

as the ones in that library. It consists of a pad with a stop mask.

what's the problem, why does it not let me import my fiducial?

thanks,

OW

marks.lbr packages that work as you say do not use any pads.

When you specify a pad in your package, Eagle stops you from adding it to a

board if the schematic is open. I guess the logic is; if there is a pad

there must be a symbol for this device so you can only ADD into the

Schematic. If you close the schematic, add your fudicial and then open the

schematic, all will be well and still consistant.

You could create a fudicial symbol, and device. Place those into your

    schematic

If you have the Sparkfun library, check out 'fudicial', they do it this way.

Yes, I believe you're right. I DO have a pad, actually it's a round pad.

And I understand now that it's expecting a symbol of some kind. I'llhave to

check with the dsigner to see if he wants to have to add a symbol in the

    schematic.

I'll have a look at sparkfun (wth does that mean anyway!?)

    Thank you again!
