I have tried using the command line, i still cant see its benefits , you
have to remember the syntax too well to avoid frustrations!!
Don't claim that I haven't used it, why can't we have a simple user
preference that enables or disables the "constant focus" of the command
line entry box, that way eagle cad can satisfy ALL USERS, especially
beginners, and not just stubborn old school users, I use eagle cad almost
every day, for hours on end, I still don't need the command line, and I can
remember that when I first evaluated eagle cad, the command line really put
me off using this great software for a long time.
I am not saying to get rid of it, I am supporting the suggestion of making
this feature optional. and at the same time this feature would give us the
benefit of single keystroke shortcuts,
I have used other applications over the years, and I still don't see
command line as the main user interface tool!
for example, I have done video editing for over 12 years, using final cut
pro, there is NO command line in that software and it has a billion more
tools/features than eagle cad does, include a fully customisable
shortcut/keyboard user interface tool, so you can assign anything to any
kind of key short cuts including single stroke, which any heavy user relies
upon,
another example,
I have just been using SKETCHUP for the past month, I needed to design a
sheet metal enclosure ( for a pcb) , quite complicated in design, but I
hardly read the manual, I just watched a few tutorial videos, and started
designing, i can tell you the sketchup is probably the MOST intuitive app
I have ever used! and it does not even have a command line!
please get over this, you are scaring off new users!
