Can I route tracks to the edge of Pads   instead of the centre?

Hi,

 

After etching a board I need to drill the holes in pads manually, to do

this more easily it helps if the center of each pad is free of copper

(otherwise the drill tends to skate on the surface of the board).

 

The problem is that Eagle will route a track to the center of a pad (rather

than the edge) this means that the center of the pad tends to end up filled

with copper. Is there any way I can make Eagle route to the edge of the pad

instead, and leave the center copper free? I can manually move the tracks,

but each time the auto-router runs it moves them back again.

    Depending on what you're using to create your resist pattern, there are

    assorted utilities and capabilities that leave the hole in the center of

    pads, regardless of whether there is a track there as well.  Including

    the ability to reduce the hole size to pilot-size rather than full size.

     

    See the Real/no drills open in settings/Misc menu, drill-aid.ulp,

    ps-drillaid CAM output hack (search the forum for "drill-aid")

    Hi, Thanks for the suggestions. I think I may have a printer/driver issue,

    I've been printing my designs onto transparent sheets, when I use a samsung

    printer the pads get filled in, when I use a Lexmark they don't. I guess

    I'll use the Lexmark from now on. Thanks for the help.

    I used to print the design on transparent sheets, insolate, ...

    No need of gerber, simply select the layers and print.

    Then the pads appear with no copper at the center. It's easy to drill. Like

    that :

    Forget about moving the traces away from the center of the pads.

    Manual drilling problems are usuallly addressed by using the ULP

    'drill-aid.ulp' but what you have said makes me suspect that may not help

    you.

    How are you transferring your design to the bare board?  Is it via gerber

    files/viewer or a print of the board from the board editor
