Pad numbers can't be turned off

No matter what I do, short of altering the device in the library, I get

some component pad numbers showing up in my artwork. They seem to be

written in the top layer by whoever created the devices.

 

I've searched the user manual front to back but can't find a reference. Is

there a way to turn off the pad numbers in a library device or do I have to

change the layer they're written in in the device itself and update the

component in the schematic? Appearing in the pad center isn't really a

problem but they sometimes appear between the pad and another signal posing

a potential problem.

 

 

 

Note: I am exporting the files as 2000 dpi bitmap images rather than Gerber

files. I find this easier to do for printing purposes. I haven't

'graduated' yet to using the Cam Processor I guess.

    It sounds like you have "Display pad names" turned on. This will cause

    Eagle to automatically display these pin numbers. You can change this

    with Options>Set>Misc-->Display pad names checkbox.
