Hello,
from manual V6:
"The COPY command in EAGLE traditionally only copied objects by clicking
on them with the mouse and placing them within the same drawing. It also
copied library objects between libraries. However, before version 6 it
did not copy the current group selection to the system's clipboard, like
other Windows programs do. In EAGLE, the CUT command was used for this.
Unfortunately, this has irritated Windows users time and again, so
beginning with version 6, the COPY command also copies the selected
group of objects to the system's clipboard, while still retaining the
full functionality of previous versions. If you don't like this, you can
use the SET command"
I think somebody should tell Cadsoft how the windows (and linux)
COPY: just copy the object to clipboard
CUT: copy to clipboard and delete
PASTE: paste from clipboard
Even if the help says they followed the hints from "irritated Windows
users" the behavior is still wrong, in my point of view.
Currently, I see this:
- copy a object (left click) -> duplicate it without copy to clipboard
- copy a group (right click) -> duplicate it and copy to clipboard
- cut -> copy to clipboard
- paste -> paste from clipboard
I cannot understand why the cut command performs a copy command.
I cannot understand why a copy command performs sometimes a copy+paste
sometimes a duplicate command.
In any case this isn't the expected behavior neither in windows nor
linux environment.
I ask to Cadsoft to explain me what is the reason behind these rules.
I'm trying to understand what you have in mind.
Thanks
Marco
