Unfortunately, I've not seen the original discussion about it, so I don't know if I can reproduce it or not (or at least have a go).
What, roughly, were you doing?

Hi Jason,
I attached the schematic and layout files to the original message. This bug
does not exist in version 5. the first time I saw it was in a PCB on which
I had a via/mounting hole near the origin. To make sure I don't have any
silkscreen too close to the pad, I turn on solder mask and do a DRC because
it will tell me if a part of the silkscreen is too close.
On this and all my other PCBs done in version 5 and earlier, I never had an
error. In Version 6, for some reason the component name/value are placed
invisibly near the origin. when I turn on the stop mask and run a DRC, this
invisible text shows up in the stop mask of the pad/via and generates
dozens of errors. These errors mask and make it very hard to find real
errors.
The steps to replicate it:
1. Create a simple schematic with a connector near the origin. Other
components may work. I just choose a random connector from the supplied
libraries. I originally found it with a 2 pin MTA connector I had modified.
However, it seems to happen with any random connector and I suspect it will
happen with any component.
2. Create PCB
3. Create a large Via, like 0.5 inch drill
4. Put the Via at 0, 0
5. Turn on the top stop mask layer
6. Do a DRC check
7. The name of the component shows up in the Via Stop Mask and causes all
sorts of stop mask errors.
The attached project shows this.
Thanks
David
