I usually choose names that begins with period (.) for supplementary gates of the devices that I design.
This gives a very nice behaviour when the gate is invoked, since it would typically be named someting like -U100.Supply
This worked out nicely in v5 but I encounter problems in v6.x.
When I try to connect the pins to the pads I get an error message when confirm with OK: "Unknown gate/pin: .NAME." With .NAME being the name I chose for the gate.
However it seems to work just fine if I first connect all pins and pads and then change the name of the gates. Maybe there is a bug in the code for the connect command?
For me it is important to be able to get a period between the gate name and the part name since I want to choose reference designators according to IEC 61346.
Even though the program accepts names that begin with / that is not a viable option for me.
