Inner Layers

Hi I have the standard edition of Eagle 5.x but am having a problem

crating inner routing layers.

I have some boards that where originally created with the light edition

and so have only 2 layers. I need to add an additional layer so I can

route some wire links that won't be tracks.

I did some searching of the group and the sugestion is that I should be

able to add the missing layers with the command :

layer 2 Route2;

However when I do this I get the error : "Layer 2 Route2 is not

available"

Help->About displays :

"EAGLE

Easily Applicable Graphical Layout Editor

Version 5.10.0 for Windows

Standard Edition

NOTE It is a legal, registered copt I have just deleted the serial number

and my name before posting !

What's up here ?

Cheers.

Phill.

    Have no fear, it's in the manual and that's in the DOC folder of your

    installation.

    You need to tell  Eagle its a four layer board you want (assuming 3 is an

    error). When the two layer board was loaded Eagle set the Design rules for a

    2 layer board.

    See manual Section 6.2 'Considerations Prior to Creating a Board.'

    Subsection 'Layers'

    You are looking to enter something like (12+316)

    Those inner layers can be set up as supply layers or signal layers. Name

    them so they are signal layers and create  polygons for the power plain

    areas.

    All the best

    Warren
