The 'latest' version is a version 6.1 release. called 6.1
Version 6 has many bugs and learning Eagle with a version that does not
perform correctly would be frustrating. Many people have currently reverted
back to v5
If you are new to Eagle I recommend staying with the version 5 you have
installed as it is reliable.
You could update to the last version (so far) of version 5 which is 5.12
